Forty Day Journey with Jesus: Sabbath of Rest

“True to your word, you let me catch my breath, and send me in the right direction.”

Psalm 23:3

Every journey has its share of starts and stops and it’s only the better part of wisdom that knows when it’s time to do which.

Though the Good Shepherd asks his sheep to follow, he never outruns the flock. His pace might be steady but his steps never stride beyond the cries of the smallest lamb. Though some straggle, none are left behind. The Shepherd is always attentive to the needs of his flock.

He knows when they need to stop.

He knows how long the sheep need to catch their breath.

He knows when to rouse the sheep and in what direction they need to start again.

As you rest awhile during these forty days with Christ, reflect on the following …

Reflection

When was the last time you felt like you were out of spiritual breath?

How has the Good Shepherd been true to his word and given you rest?

In what way is he leading you in the right direction?
