30,000 Books and 900,000 Liters of Water

Besides the saving Gospel of Jesus, Africa’s greatest needs are …

  • the life giving waters that come from the seasonal rains
  • and second to the rain, is access to education, a well trained faculty, books, and academic resources.

By His promise and grace, the Triune God provides the rains.

And through the volunteer service of gifted teachers and the gracious gifts of supporters throughout the world, the Lutheran School of Theology provides students with …

  • a bold and clear confession of the Gospel
  • top tier theological pastor/professors
  • access to an academic library that will soon house 30,000 cataloged books
  • a sustainable off-the-grid site plan that utilizes solar power
  • a rain water collection and reservoir system that holds over 900,0000 liters of water for drip irrigation, farming, and the care of animals

In the video below, you’ll see how the academic library of the Lutheran School of Theology is designed to hold 30,000 books and how the reservoir that sits beneath the courtyard holds 900,000 liters of water.

We heed the exhortation and take to heart the warning of Martin Luther, who described the Gospel and all of God’s gifts as a passing rain shower.

“For you should know that God’s word and grace is like a passing shower of rain which does not return where it has once been.

It has been with the Jews, but when it’s gone it’s gone, and now they have nothing. Paul brought it to the Greeks; but again when it’s gone it’s gone, and now they have the Turk. Rome and the Latins also had it; but when it’s gone it’s gone, and now they have the pope.

And you Germans need not think that you will have it forever, for ingratitude and contempt will not make it stay. Therefore, seize it and hold it fast, whoever can; for lazy hands are bound to have a lean year.”
