“Even when the way goes through Death Valley, I’m not afraid when you walk at my side. Your trusty shepherd’s crook makes me feel secure.”
Psalm 23:4
The Good Shepherd knows that the journey home must pass through, not around, Death Valley.
Though there may be many troubles, toils, and snares, the Shepherd charts a course for home and comforts his flock with the promise of his presence. When danger comes, he doesn’t abandon the sheep; he runs to their side. And if enemies try to attack the flock, they’ll have to deal with the long shank of the Shepherd’s crook.
As you continue to walk with Christ during these forty days, reflect on the following …
Reflection
When was the last time you walked the way of danger but didn’t feel afraid?
What “Death Valleys” has the Shepherd led you safely through?
How does the Good Shepherd make you feel secure?
