A blessed Reformation and All Saints Day from the Lutheran School of Theology at the foot of the Ngong Hills near Nairobi in Kenya, Africa.
It is with great joy that I share with you the news that the Lutheran School of Theology (LST) has just been granted provisional academic accreditation by ACTEA, the accrediting authority in the capitol city of Nairobi!
The staff and students of the LST are indeed grateful to our Lord for this rare accomplishment. The graduates will now be properly certified in the African context and will qualify almost seamlessly for further formal education in other bona fide African institutions of higher learning.
Here, by God’s grace alone and in keeping with the school’s mission and promise, the LST is “forming African Lutheran to be teachers of the faith” every day.
Recently in the news, it was reported that 8,000 churches in Rwanda were closed because they did not comply with government regulations. One of the requirements is that pastors must have an accredited diploma from an accredited theological school. Getting accreditation means that the LST will now be able to grant diplomas to students who successfully complete the program.
More significant, the LST will be only the THIRD accredited Lutheran seminary on the continent!
Many more Lutheran seminaries are needed. People are begging to hear the Gospel, but they can’t hear unless faithfully trained preachers are sent. Pray to the Lord of the Harvest to send more students and more teachers.
From a Tent Under an Acacia Tree to an Accredited School in Ten Years
The Lutheran School of Theology was founded by Reverend James May over a decade ago and has evolved from humble beginnings in a tent to a fully developed and self-sustaining campus.
In the video below I have a chance to reflect on the school’s growth and you’ll also be able to see a full fly-over of the site. The school has beautiful classrooms, a chapel, state of the art kitchen, dormitories, an academic library, fields for crops, dairy cows, chickens, rabbits, and a vineyard.
I thank God for His provision supplied by you. Your generous support, prayers, and many kindnesses have blessed us and the work of the Gospel. Come what may, we do belong to Jesus. We commend all into His hands.
