The Receptive Life – Weekly Practice

A blessed Easter season to you and your family.

During the Passion week, sin’s wage came due .

On Good Friday, the debt was paid .

And on that first day of the week, the empty tomb is the resurrection receipt – the Father’s notice to the unholy trinity (the devil, the corrupt world, and our sinful flesh) that all sins forgiven.

The Lord is risen! He is risen indeed! Alleluia!

The Receptive Life – Weekly Practice

During Lent we walked through the six stations of The Receptive Life Daily Practice:

  • Station 1: The Sign of the Cross and the Trinitarian Invocation
  • Station 2: Evening and Morning Prayer
  • Station 3: Confession
  • Station 4: The Reading, Study and Meditation of the Scriptures
  • Station 5: Morning and Evening Commendation
  • Station 6: Blessing and Doxology

Over the next couple of weeks I’ll walk you through each of the seven “stations” that make up the Weekly Practice.

Here’s a sample of the content …

  • Station 7: Examining our Lives Through the Ten Commandments
  • Station 8: Declaring the Truth About God in the Creed
  • Station 9: Learning How to Pray Using the Lord’s Prayer
  • Station 10: Remembering and Making Use of Your Baptism
  • Station 11: Confession and a Life of Repentance
  • Station 12: Receiving the Lord’s Supper
  • Station 13: Living out a Christian Vocation

Each week we’ll slowly make our way through each station, learn the basics, practice, and repeat.

Here is an overview of the Weekly Practice ...

The goal of The Receptive Life is to provide digital resources that will help you develop a distinctly Lutheran spiritual formation process that is …

  • rooted in the Scriptures
  • anchored in the weekly Divine Service
  • and framed by the chief parts of Martin Luther’s Small Catechism

Unlike most spiritual formation programs that focus on the work, performance, or effort of the individual, The Receptive Life emphasizes the work of the Triune God and directs us to all of the places and means by which the Word (in Scripture, the Sacraments, and in Jesus) does its work on us.

By the end of The Receptive Life journey, you will have a simple framework that will help you daily and weekly go to all of the places where the Triune God has promised to do His work and give His gifts.

You can sign up for The Receptive Life community course by going to …
